A Painting a Day... day 18 and 19

Ok, day 18, a man in a kipa playing a clarinet,
and day 19 woman playing maracas with flowers in her hair!
I can't believe there are only 11 more to do, of course the middle of next week... I might be feeling like it will never end! This has been a pleasure so far, I hope it continues!
That's all for today! Tj.

A Painting a day... wait what??

Ok, I did not paint yesterday. I failed! Oh well... I'll catch up tonight. Last night we went to vist some very dear friends of ours. Jamie and James Ellis are moving to Texas and last night was our last visit, until we are able to go to Texas and visit them! I have known Jamie her whole life, you see her mother is a high school friend of mine! Patti and her hubby and other daughter live in Texas now, and Jamie and James are moving closer to her! I am sure Patti will be so happy to have her 2 adoreable grand kids close to her! I know I would!!! We will miss you guys, but we'll come and visit... and I know you will be back in Sac too! So, we didn't get home until around 9, and well... I didn't paint! I'll catch up tonight and post Day 18 and 19!

For now I thought I'd share this painting I did in 2007. It is one of my favorites, very alice in wonderlandy... Hey it's Friday!!!!!!! Tj.

A Painting a Day... day 12 and more

Well I am posting this a day late, but it was done I swear! Day 12 piano man. I didn't post it last night, I went out with my honey. He was playing in Placerville CA at a place called the Cozmic Cafe http://www.thecozmiccafe.com/ with blues ledgend Sonny Rhodes. http://www.myspace.com/sonnystorch What a great venue, old stone and brick building, it even has a gold mine that goes out the back of it right into the ground. Sonny Rhodes puts on a great show, he has such heart and it shows through in his music. He is one of the most acclaimed Texas bluesmen and has legendary status for his proficiency on lap steel guitar. It was a great night, here are just a few photos...

A Painting a Day... day 10 and 11

OK, so yesterday I didn't finish my day 10. I went out to dinner with some work friends, we have a monthly dinner and I haven't been able to go in a couple of months, so I went last night. Didn't get home until 7:30ish... so I didn't finish. But tonight I finished him and today's! So, here you have day 10, an old washboard player and day 11, singing drummer man. This is an interesting process, some of them I really like and some well, I'm not sure yet. But what is interesting is my family's response. One I don't like as much my daughter really likes... just goes to show beautiful art is truly in the eyes of the beholder! Be well... Tj.

A painting a day... day 2

Ok, here is today's painting. Again all will be 6X6 3/4 wraped canvas acrylic medium. I am enjoying this painting a day thing, very gratifying to finish a painting and I'm doing it daily... we will see how it goes! Yahoo!!! Be well... Tj.

A painting a day...

I have been trying to wait until my home computer has all the fixes needed and all our files restored to update my blog. But that could be a while. I have some things I want to post like the video of me playing my ukulele in public for the very first time… my debut! Some photos of the Swell Sister first art show, that was fabulous. A few holiday moments I want to share. But I guess I'll wonder back in time when I can get to those files. (Hopefully that will be soon) For now I want to post about 2 things.

First, I have been given a new challenge. A painting a day for 30 days! It is for an art show in February for Second Saturday, that's right I'm in another show!! That is 4 months in a row now… WOW!! Who would have thought, a year ago or even 6 months ago that I'd be showing now, I have the Swell Sister Society to thank for that. I have been inspired to move forward in my art and to take leaps instead of baby steps. Thank you to all my Swell Sisters for your inspiration and support!!! So back to the Painting a day…

Here is my day one painting. They will all be acrylic on 6X6 stretched 3/4 wrapped canvas. I decided because it was a month long challenge to do the phases of the moon. Each day I'll paint the moon in what ever phase it is in, and in the foreground there will be a musician of some kind! So day one… January 12th 2009, the moon was full on the 11th, so it is just barely in the waning gibbous phase, tiny shadow on the right, not quite full and a trumpet player doing his thing! I am very jazzed about this project. We'll see how I feel 2 weeks in and I have to fit in to my busy schedule to do a painting a day! It should be an interesting project, emotionally, physically, artistically, spiritually… we will see! I am going to try to post each day, so anyone who wants can follow my progress too… if there is anyone out there??

The other thing, my very good friend Carolee sent me this photo of me and my hubby from 1993. (Thanks Carolee!) Who are those kids? Dang my husband was damn sexy back then! He’s sitting there all mysterious in his Beer Dawg shirt looking so cool. (He was the original bass player for the Beer Dawgs, for those of you who don’t know) I love you honey!

Ok, I'll be back tomorrow with today's painting. Be well! Tj.
